Quellenhof Luxury Resort Passeier: greetings from the front desk
The Quellenhof Luxury Resort Passeier lies in San Martino in Passiria near Merano and was founded in 1897 as a modest inn. In 1923 the Dorfer family took over the then run-down house — today Heinrich Dorfer runs the resort together with his wife Meggy and their three children Carolin, Lukas and Tobias. Step by step the original inn became a resort world of four independent guest houses: the Quellenhof as the flagship, the Parkresidenz opened in 2004, the Forellenhof and the Vitalresidenz inaugurated in 2009. The latter has housed the resort's own medical centre since 2010 — a medical depth rare in this category.
The spa landscape comprises around 10,500 m² and divides into five connected worlds: the Vital Spa (adults only) in the Vitalresidenz with a 25-metre infinity sports pool and salt worlds, the rooftop spa (adults only) on the Forellenhof with an infinity glass pool, the Family Spa in the Parkresidenz, the classic Quellenhof spa and the medical centre. The adults-only areas are accessible from 14 years.
Culinarily the house carries a Michelin star in the Gourmetstube 1897 (in the original Quellenhof) — the only starred address in the Passeier valley. Beside it the Sky restaurant Teppanyaki, several themed parlours, the vinotheque and a cigar lounge of its own. Sports infrastructure: the resort's own golf course, tennis courts, a stable with school horses, an action park and the Acqua Family Parc.
Four guest houses — Q, P, F, V
Four independent houses under the resort roof: the Q (Quellenhof) as the flagship with the classic parlours, the Gourmetstube 1897, a bar, a vinotheque and a cigar lounge. The P (Parkresidenz, 2004) lies in a 7,000 m² park and carries the Family Spa, penthouse and presidential suites as well as the Sky Chalet with its own observatory. The F (Forellenhof) carries the flower suites, the adults-only rooftop spa with an infinity glass pool and a shopping area with bowling and billiards. The V (Vitalresidenz, 2009) is conceived as a “harbour of calm”: an adults-only Vital Spa, a 25-metre infinity sports pool, salt worlds and the medical centre.
10,500 m² of spa — five worlds, adults and family areas
The spa world divides into five areas: the Vital Spa (adults only, V house) with salt worlds and a 25-metre sports pool, the rooftop spa (adults only, F house) with an infinity glass pool on the roof, the Family Spa (P house) with child-friendly pools and rest zones for parents, the classic Quellenhof spa and the medical centre (V house). Adults-only access from 14 years. Outdoor pools are heated to up to 34 °C in winter; at least five infusions take place daily in the various saunas.
Medical centre — medical diagnostics and therapy
In the medical centre (opened in 2010, in the Vitalresidenz) doctors work with extensive diagnostic and therapy packages: general prevention, vascular prevention, dermatological prevention with a 3D full-body scan, a sports and fitness check as well as a biohacking retreat programme of its own in three stages (Good Health, Prevent & Check, Mine Longevity). A dental department belongs to it too.
Gourmetstube 1897 (1 Michelin star) and Sky Teppanyaki
The Gourmetstube 1897 carries a Michelin star — the only starred address in the Passeier valley. Beside it the Sky restaurant Teppanyaki in the Parkresidenz for Japanese grill tradition, several classic parlours (dining rooms with South Tyrolean character), a vinotheque and a cigar lounge of its own. The gourmet half board carries the day with a breakfast buffet and a six-course menu in the evening.
Sport — its own golf course, stable, tennis courts, action park
Heinrich Dorfer had a 3-hole golf course laid out on the site — today it is part of the house's sports choreography together with tennis courts, a stable of its own with school horses (the riding week is a classic of the house), guided hikes and bike tours into the Passeier valley. For active families the action park and the Acqua Family Parc stand ready. Tennis, golf, riding, football-camp and biohacking weeks are booked as independent themed packages.
Rooms, suites, chalets and the Sky Chalet with an observatory
The room categories are spread over the four guest houses — from classic double rooms via themed suites (such as the flower suites in the Forellenhof) to penthouse and presidential suites in the Parkresidenz. The top of the line: the Sky Chalet with its own observatory under the roof of the Parkresidenz — presumably the only privately bookable observatory in a South Tyrolean resort.

Under the umbrella brand “Quellenhof Luxury Resorts” the Dorfer family runs four independent houses: the main resort described here in the Passeier valley, the directly neighbouring Quellenhof See Lodge (adults only from 14 with a South Seas lagoon), the small, more intimate Hotel | Chalet Das Alpenschlössel on the mountainside and the Quellenhof Luxury Resort Lazise on Lake Garda. The “Mountain & Lake” package combines Passeier and Lazise in an eight-night holiday.
San Martino in Passiria — at the entrance to the Sarntal Alps
San Martino in Passiria lies in the rear Passeier valley, around 20 km north of Merano and 50 km north of Bolzano. The gateway to the Sarntal Alps and the Texel group — the home of Andreas Hofer, apple growing, wine and hiking country. Via the Brenner motorway A22 the resort is reachable in about two hours' drive from Munich.

The Quellenhof was founded in 1897 as a small inn in the Passeier valley; in 1923 the Dorfer family took over the then run-down house. The Family Spa (Parkresidenz) and the pools are open to guests of every age. The Vital Spa (Vitalresidenz) and the rooftop spa (Forellenhof) are adults-only zones — access from 14 years. In this way the stay can be balanced precisely between family wellness and quiet adult experience.
Michelin star — Gourmetstube 1897

Medical centre — its own doctors in the house
Since 2010 the medical centre has been set up in the basement of the Vitalresidenz — with its own doctors, diagnostics (3D full-body scan, skin analysis, vascular prevention), anti-ageing programmes and a three-stage biohacking retreat. This depth is unusual for a sports and wellness resort and positions the house clearly towards longevity.
