Vitalhotel Dosses
Superior

A tradition-rich four-star-superior spa hotel in Santa Cristina in Val Gardena, at the foot of the Langkofel and Plattkofel. The “Hof Doss in Greden” has been documented since 1420 — today run by the Turini family, who inherited the house from Albert Schenk by will in 2015. A Vitalpina member with its own ANIMA wellness world (fully modernised in summer 2025), a panoramic open-air pool heated all year and the house's own “Living the Dolomites” outdoor programme.

Vitalhotel Dosses: greetings from the front desk
Whoever arrives in Santa Cristina in Val Gardena sees the Vitalhotel Dosses unusually quickly — the house lies in the village centre, with a direct view of the Langkofel and Plattkofel, at the foot of the Sella group. The “Hof Doss in Greden” was first mentioned in the church books in 1420; in 1551 Hans von Dosses is named as the first innkeeper. Over six centuries it has become a four-star-superior spa hotel with a Vitalpina philosophy. Since 2015 Oskar and Helene Turini have run the house with their children Daniel and Lea — they had previously held the management for two decades and were named heirs by the will of the childless previous owner Albert Schenk.
The decisive architectural turn came with the conversion of 1973 — the inn then became a hotel with the estate character that shapes it today (a residential building with an attached barn). In 2016 the last major extension followed with the Alpina rooms and the traditional farm parlour “Stua Albert”; in summer 2025 the whole wellness area was redesigned from the ground up once again.
ANIMA wellness world — sauna choreography in alpine-hut style
The sauna world was completely reconceived in summer 2025: a Finnish sauna in the rebuilt alpine hut, a herbal steam bath in the “hay barn”, a bio and a hay sauna in the “mountain farmhouse” — wellness architecture that plays with Val Gardena building tradition. Add the frigidarium as a cold cabin with a snow shower and an ice fountain, a maxi shower in the stone grotto, a mountain shower and various experience showers. The whirlpool, a welcome lounge with a tea and juice bar and a rest area with a salt-stone wall and a fireplace close the world. Sauna mistress Cristina curates the infusion programme — from the scent journey in the bio sauna to the classic Finnish infusion.
A panoramic open-air pool all year
The panoramic open-air pool is in operation all year — heated to 32 °C in winter, 28 °C in summer. The position opens the view onto the surrounding Dolomite peaks; while swimming you breathe the alpine air at around 1,430 metres. A format that is not rare in South Tyrol but rarely so directly paired with a view of the Langkofel and Plattkofel.
ARMONIA Beauty Lounge and body/vital centre
The ARMONIA Beauty Lounge runs the classic spa menu: massages, body scrubs, facial and body treatments, special baths. Beside it the body and vital centre with a small fitness area, a supervised indoor programme and the house's own ski guide for training briefings before outdoor days.
“Living the Dolomites” — a guided outdoor programme
The house's own outdoor programme “Living the Dolomites” frames the active part of the stay: in summer daily hikes against the backdrop of the Langkofel, twice a week demanding high-mountain tours, a taster via ferrata and morning sunrise hikes. Half-day tours lead to mountain farms around Santa Cristina. In winter experienced ski guides lead ski-touring excursions through the snowy Dolomite landscape, plus snowshoe hikes and cross-country sessions. On request a helicopter flight over the Sella massif and the Marmolada.
Dosses Kulinarium — alpine meets Mediterranean
The Dosses Kulinarium combines hearty South Tyrolean cuisine with Mediterranean lightness. Seasonally adapted ingredients come preferably from the Dolomite region; the three-quarter pampering board carries the day with a breakfast buffet, a lunch snack and a choice menu in the evening. The traditional farm parlour “Stua Albert” stands in memory of Albert Schenk, the last Schenk heir and hotel father until 2015.
Rooms & suites — the Alpina category at the top
The Alpina rooms created in 2016 have fine wooden floors and large panoramic glazing with a view of the Langkofel and Plattkofel. Mostly equipped with a balcony; standard fittings per room: satellite and Sky TV, a safe, a minibar, a seating corner, Wi-Fi, a direct-dial telephone and a bathroom with a hairdryer, a bidet, a bathtub and/or a shower.
Santa Cristina in Val Gardena — the heart of the Dolomites
Santa Cristina in Val Gardena (Italian: Santa Cristina Valgardena) lies in the Val Gardena valley at around 1,430 metres, framed by the Langkofel, the Plattkofel, the Geisler group and the Sella massif — all designated UNESCO World Natural Heritage. The hotel stands in the village centre; from the Monte Pana the winter-sports pistes and the Saslong World Cup downhill run of Val Gardena are a few minutes away.

Frequently asked questions about the hotel
Can you really swim outdoors in winter?
Yes — the panoramic open-air pool is heated all year: 32 °C in winter, 28 °C in summer. In winter that means swimming with a view of the snowy walls of the Langkofel and Plattkofel while your breath steams — one of those moments you travel to Val Gardena for.
What does “Living the Dolomites” offer?
The house's own outdoor programme in the spirit of the Vitalpina philosophy: guided experiences in the Dolomites around Santa Cristina, organised directly from the house — here the mountains belong to the wellness concept, not merely to the backdrop. The ANIMA wellness world takes over for the regeneration afterwards.
First mentioned in 1420 — the “Hof Doss in Greden”
The “Hof Doss in Greden” was first mentioned in the church books of Santa Cristina in 1420 — which makes the house one of the oldest documented properties in Val Gardena. In 1551 Hans von Dosses is named as the first innkeeper. The present character — an estate with a residential building and an attached barn — goes back to the great conversion of 1973 under Albert Schenk.
The Turini family — hosts since 2015
Oskar and Helene Turini have run the hotel with their children Daniel and Lea since January 2015. They had previously held the management of the Dosses for more than 20 years and inherited the business according to the will of the childless previous owner Albert Schenk.
Wellness modernisation in summer 2025
In summer 2025 the wellness area was completely reconceived. The ANIMA wellness world shows a sauna architecture in Val Gardena building tradition: an alpine hut (Finnish sauna), a hay barn (herbal steam bath), a mountain farmhouse (bio and hay sauna). Added to it were the frigidarium with a snow shower and an ice fountain, the welcome lounge, a newly designed rest area and a modern ski room with an individual ski box.
Local tax, province of Bolzano
