The Sofitel Munich Bayerpost has occupied since 2004 the former Royal Bavarian Main Post Office on the Bayerstraße — a listed post-office building erected between 1896 and 1900 by Wilhelm Fischer in the style of the Italian High Renaissance, which served until 1993 as the central collection point for Munich's postal traffic. The Sofitel Spa lies in the basement of the Bayerpost building — a heated indoor pool with gracefully curved mosaic walls, a steam bath and a sauna as well as rest rooms of stone and tiles, softly lit. The treatments follow the lines of two French spa houses: Cinq Mondes for massages and rituals, Sothys for facial and beauty treatments.
