Hotel Maximilian: greetings from the front desk

The Hotel Maximilian is a five-star wellness and golf hotel in Bad Griesbach — part of the Quellness & Golf Resort, today under the roof of Guessa Capital Invest B.V. (since April 2025) and positioned as the “Maximilian Grand Hotel”: tradition and elegance, service and gastronomy at the centre. 205 rooms in seven categories, a thermal-water complex of its own (the MAX-Therme) and the house concept “The Maximilian Experience”, which bundles spa, cuisine and service into a package integrated into every offer. Embedded in the Rottal hill landscape, with access to five 18-hole courses — one of the rare five-star classifications in Lower Bavaria.

MAX-Therme and wellness

The MAX-Therme is the Maximilian's own thermal-water complex — fed with the Bad Griesbach thermal healing water, with indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna world and a salt-stone rest lounge. The spa concept reaches beyond the bath: massages, beauty and body treatments of all lines are part of the house packages.

“The Maximilian Experience”

“The Maximilian Experience” is the bracket the house draws over all its packages: spa access, a gourmet breakfast buffet, evening choice menus or themed buffets are never add-ons but a natural part of every stay.

Restaurants and lounge

An à-la-carte address with a regional focus and international accents (Wednesday to Saturday from 18:00) as well as Maxim's Café & Lounge for daytime stays. Concept: “honest cuisine” with seasonal, regional ingredients — Bavarian at heart, cosmopolitan in accent.

205 rooms in seven categories

First Class (30 m²) and First Class Deluxe (30 m², with a roof terrace), Studio and Studio Deluxe (50 m² each), Suite and Suite Deluxe (60 m² each), plus Comfort Class (30 m²). 205 rooms in all — a different order of magnitude from the sister houses; conferences and events with up to several hundred guests can be handled here.

Golf in Bad Griesbach

Bad Griesbach is Germany's largest golf resort. The Maximilian has direct access to the five 18-hole championship courses of the Quellness & Golf Resort; a TrackMan® indoor simulator in the house allows year-round training, regardless of season and weather.

Conferences and events

13 modern conference rooms with flexible seating are set up in the house — one of the largest event capacities of the resort group in Bad Griesbach. Conceptually tailored to larger corporate conferences with a wellness and golf programme afterwards.

Location in the Quellness & Golf Resort

Bad Griesbach lies in the Lower Bavarian Rottal, south-east of Passau — the largest golf resort on the European mainland. The Maximilian is connected with the sister houses Fürstenhof and Das Ludwig at the same location; the resort can be walked around.

Frequently asked questions about the hotel

“The Maximilian Experience” — what is included?

The “Maximilian Experience” is the house package included in every booking: access to the MAX-Therme and the spa area, a gourmet breakfast buffet, evening choice menus or themed buffets, classic and seasonal wellness programme items as well as the direct connection to the resort's sports and activity infrastructure.

MAX-Therme — what sets it apart?

The MAX-Therme is the house's own thermal-water complex and uses the Bad Griesbach thermal healing water directly. With indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna world and a salt-stone rest lounge it is not only a spa add-on but part of the Maximilian identity — and sets the house apart from the sister addresses with their own spa concepts.

How well is the Maximilian set up for golfers?

The house lies in the middle of the largest golf resort on the European mainland, with direct access to five 18-hole championship courses. The golf season runs from April to October, in mild years into November.

Outside the season the TrackMan® indoor simulator stays in the house — swing analysis and training rounds thus work all year, regardless of the weather.

Is the Maximilian suited to conferences and larger groups?

Yes — and as the only house of the resort group in this order of magnitude: 205 rooms in seven categories and 13 modern conference rooms with flexible seating make corporate conferences with several hundred guests feasible.

The concept is tailored to the combination: conference in the house, afterwards the MAX-Therme, spa treatments or a round on one of the five courses.

When is Bad Griesbach most worthwhile?

The thermal baths of the location are open 365 days a year — the region works all year round. April to June and September to November count as insider windows: pleasant weather, mid-range prices, houses well occupied but not full.

In winter thermal bathing shows its strongest side (steaming outdoor pools in frosty air, the quietest pools of the year); high summer combines thermal days with the Danube and Inn cycle paths and boat trips to Passau.

Is the house now called “Maximilian Grand Hotel”?

Yes — since the change of ownership to Guessa Capital Invest B.V. (April 2025) the house appears as the “Maximilian Grand Hotel”: tradition, elegance, service and gastronomy as the core of its profile. The address, the resort and the MAX-Therme stay the same; the familiar name “Hotel Maximilian” lives on in everyday use.
