Hotel Antoniushof: greetings from the front desk
The Antoniushof lies in Ruhstorf an der Rott — in the Lower Bavarian Rottal, near Passau and within comfortable reach of the thermal baths of Bad Füssing, Bad Birnbach and Bad Griesbach. A four-star spa hotel with 38 rooms and suites, in family hands for more than a hundred years: mother Anette and her daughters Miriam and Patricia run the house as a trio. Over the years the house has developed into one of the most specialised fasting addresses in Bavaria — Buchinger therapeutic fasting, classic alkaline fasting and 16:8 intermittent fasting as medically supervised programmes.
GartenSpa — 1,000 m² with a feng shui garden
The GartenSpa opens onto 1,000 m² of wellness landscape, embedded in a 3,000 m² feng shui garden with places of power and flowering beds. Indoor and outdoor pool, several saunas including a Swiss-pine sanarium, rest areas. The spa is not conceived as a basement facility but as a connected indoor/outdoor space that reads the garden with it.
Fasting programmes as the house speciality
Three structured fasting formats belong to the core programme: therapeutic fasting after Dr Buchinger (7–14 nights), classic alkaline fasting (7 nights) and 16:8 intermittent fasting (5 nights). The programmes are accompanied by Miriam Lorenz, junior manager of the house and a certified fasting guide, nutrition and gut-health adviser — introductory and closing consultations are part of the respective package.
Cuisine — regional, seasonal, fasting-friendly
The regular kitchen works regionally and seasonally: traditional Lower Bavarian dishes with modern influences, vegetarian and vegan options throughout. Whoever fasts eats separately: juices, vegetable soups, herbal teas according to the fasting plan. Whoever stays longer switches between the two modes — build-up and relief days are set up as a transition.
Rooms and suites
38 rooms and suites in modern comfort. At the top stand the junior suites with a private spa — own whirlpool, own sauna, larger living area — as a more intimate alternative to the large GartenSpa.
Activities and the Move & Relax programme
Move & Relax — the daily activity programme — bundles yoga, meditation, Pilates and workshops. On the doorstep begins the Rottal: hikes, cycle tours, mountain-bike routes; in 20–30 minutes' drive guests reach the thermal baths of Bad Füssing, Bad Birnbach and Bad Griesbach, plus one of the densest golf regions in Europe.
Location and family history
Ruhstorf an der Rott lies in the Rottal, south-east of Passau — one of the quieter wellness regions of Lower Bavaria, shaped by thermal-water tradition and a gentle hill landscape. The Antoniushof has been family-owned for more than a hundred years; today's management — mother Anette with daughters Miriam and Patricia — is the youngest generation of a long line.

Frequently asked questions about the hotel
What is the GartenSpa?
1,000 m² of wellness landscape, embedded in a 3,000 m² feng shui garden with places of power and flowering beds: an indoor and an outdoor pool, several saunas including a Swiss-pine sanarium, a Kneipp basin, a steam bath and rest areas.
The spa is conceived not as a basement facility but as a connected indoor/outdoor space that reads the garden with it — hence the name.
Fasting cure — what is included in the programme?
Buchinger therapeutic fasting, classic alkaline fasting and 16:8 intermittent fasting each run as medically supervised programmes. Set up are an introductory and closing consultation with Miriam Lorenz (junior manager, fasting guide, certified nutrition and gut-health adviser), an individually worked-out fasting plan, herbal teas, freshly pressed juices and vegetable soups as well as a fixed sequence of treatments — see the respective offer.
A relief day for preparation and a build-up plan for the first days at home are included in every variant.
Can you eat normally when your partner is fasting?
Yes — the two modes run separately: the regular kitchen works regionally and seasonally (traditionally Lower Bavarian with modern influences, vegetarian and vegan options throughout), while those fasting receive juices, vegetable soups and herbal teas according to plan. Build-up and relief days are set up as a transition between the two worlds.
Is there a private spa area for couples?
Yes — the junior suites have a “private spa” of their own: own sauna, own whirlpool, larger living area. A more intimate alternative to the large GartenSpa, bookable as a room category or as part of the offer “Private Spa Suite – luxury & togetherness”.
Who runs the Antoniushof?
The house has been family-owned for more than a hundred years — today mother Anette and her daughters Miriam and Patricia Lorenz run the hotel as a trio. The house's specialisation carries the signature of the youngest generation: Miriam Lorenz accompanies the fasting programmes herself as a certified fasting guide, nutrition and gut-health adviser.
What do the surroundings offer between treatments?
The daily “Move & Relax” programme bundles yoga, meditation, Pilates and workshops in the house. Outside begins the Rottal with hiking, cycling and mountain-bike routes.
In 20 to 30 minutes' drive lie the thermal baths of Bad Füssing, Bad Birnbach and Bad Griesbach — and with them one of the densest golf regions in Europe.
