The wellness season begins — an autumn full of offers

Autumn is back — and with it the traditional wellness season. It can no longer be denied: the sun shows itself more rarely, it grows colder and wet again. Rain, wind and early darkness shape the day in Bavaria and around the Alps too. But enough gloom, because at the same time one of the loveliest times of the year for turning to wellness begins.

Wellness makes the dark season agreeable

Now is the time for the sauna, massages and relaxed hours in a spa hotel, in the spa or at home. The stormier it is outside, the more agreeable it is inside. Whether sauna-going and contrast baths actually “toughen” the immune system is, incidentally, not conclusively settled scientifically — the body of studies counts as thin, even if there are individual positive indications for regular sauna use. Good for the mood in the dark season the warmth is in any case. We have looked at which wellness offers are particularly attractive this autumn.

Landromantik at the spa hotel Oswald

The Landromantik Hotel Oswald in the Bavarian Forest has been comprehensively renovated and is lovelier than ever. Punctually for autumn, package offers with many inclusive services beckon here — from the gourmet menu to the extensive wellness and spa landscape. A look at the current “Landromantik” arrangements is worthwhile.

A pause for rest at the Hotel St. Florian

The Hotel St. Florian likewise lies in the Bavarian Forest and invites you to a genuine pause for rest. In the wellness area you fetch your energy back and the autumn weather no longer matters — though the surrounding nature is so appealing that the odd walk belongs to it. The autumnal pampering arrangements combine both.

Time for togetherness at the spa hotel Romantika

Whoever wants to enjoy the dark season as a couple is in good hands at the spa hotel Romantika in Hauzenberg. The house in the Bavarian Forest has specialised in couples: with an arrangement such as the “cuddling weekend for lovers”, spa, togetherness and autumnal nature can be harmoniously combined — a gift to yourself and your dearest company.

“Beauty weekend” at Forsters Posthotel

Forsters Posthotel in Donaustauf receives you with a rounded wellness offering. Here long tradition and a good reputation meet modern facilities with many comforts. A weekend is particularly worthwhile if you want to do something good for yourself — with the “beauty weekend”, for instance.

Frequently asked questions

Why is autumn the classic wellness season?

Because uncomfortable weather makes warmth, sauna and soothing baths properly attractive in the first place. When it turns cold, wet and dark outside, a wellness day is the deliberate counterpole to the dreary season — good for the body and above all for the mood.

Does sauna use strengthen the immune system?

That is not clearly proven — specialists rate the body of studies on “toughening” through sauna and contrast baths as thin, even if there are individual positive indications for regular sauna use. Beneficial and stimulating for the circulation it is in any case. People with cardiovascular conditions should seek medical advice beforehand.

Which treatments suit autumn particularly well?

Everything warm: sauna rounds with an infusion, thermal and herbal baths, warming massages. Against dry heated air, facial and skincare treatments do good as well. If you like, round the whole thing off with a walk through the colourful autumn leaves.

Are autumnal wellness packages worthwhile?

Often yes: many houses bundle accommodation, spa use and cuisine into attractive arrangements. In the Bavarian Forest, for instance, the Landromantik Hotel Oswald, the Hotel St. Florian and the spa hotel Romantika beckon, and in the Upper Palatinate Forsters Posthotel — comparing the current offers pays off.
