The restaurant and board at the Hotel St. Florian
A romantic dinner by the fireside, feasting cosily with others in the parlour or enjoying mild summer evenings in our beer garden. At the St. Florian we celebrate culinary romance for all the senses. What is understood elsewhere as “half board” we have converted into a pampering board. Because we find that enjoyment cannot simply be divided into two appointments. Besides, we ourselves don't like half measures either. We treat everything nature gives us with great respect. Regional products always stand in the foreground. An old grappa, the house brandies or a freshly tapped beer – gladly one or two of our sparkling cocktails too. Delicious without alcohol too, of course. Enjoy the nightcap at the hotel bar or, on mild summer evenings, outside under the open starry sky.

Frequently asked questions about the hotel
Why is the St. Florian now called “Waidlerei”?
The Koller family's house appears today as “Hotel Waidlerei St. Florian” — a sharpening of the name that puts the Bavarian Forest identity to the fore (“Waidler” is what the inhabitants of the Bavarian Forest call themselves). Behind it stands the same host family: Michaela and Bernd Koller with Lucia, Felix and Paul.
How warm is the pool — and what belongs to the wellness area?
The indoor-outdoor pool is 29 °C warm all year — early risers jump in in the morning while the scent of coffee already streams through the open door. Add several saunas, a steam bath, an infrared cabin and infrared loungers.
On the treatment side: classic massages (such as shoulder-head-neck) and gua sha facial and neck massages, plus body treatments — wellness bathing by candlelight included.
What distinguishes the pampering board from normal half board?
The Kollers have deliberately rebuilt classic half board: enjoyment cannot be divided into two appointments. The pampering board carries through the day — from breakfast via the parlour to dinner by the fireside or in the beer garden on mild summer evenings, with regional products in the foreground.
Can you golf from the St. Florian?
Yes — the Oberzwieselau golf park with 18 holes lies just around the corner, and hotel guests play with a 25 % green-fee discount.
What makes Frauenau special as a holiday destination?
Frauenau is called the “glass heart of the Glass Road” — a traditional glassworks location with a glass museum, glass gardens and still-producing works. Whoever wants to combine culture and wellness has both in the one place here.
Add more than 130 signposted hiking trails around Frauenau through the mountain pastures and high moors — the Bavarian Forest National Park begins directly at the door.
Which season suits the Bavarian Forest best?
Each has its programme: May to September belong to hikers (cool summers, clear mountain air), October to the Indian summer with game cuisine, winter to the ski and cross-country area around the Großer Arber.
Whoever seeks calm travels in the shoulders — March to mid-April or the second half of November, when the trails are empty and prices lowest.
