A time out worth seeing at lofty heights: a visit to Nesselwang in the Allgäu

The climatic health resort of Nesselwang lies at just under 900 metres in the Allgäu Alpine foothills. Here a well-deserved time out in the mountains is easily had — and for a change you can marvel at a whole lot of sights.

Exciting excursions into the history of Nesselwang

The region around Nesselwang has a long and interesting history; the Romans were already active here and laid out the famous Via Claudia Augusta, one of the most important Roman roads, which reached as far as northern Italy and whose traces are still visible today.

Medieval history too can be experienced more closely in Nesselwang — in the half-timbered house “Beim Glaser”, for instance, built in 1807, whose faithful original furnishings convey a picture of the time.

Nesselwang is likewise known for its successful winter athletes; in the ski museum you can relive, among other things, the successes of biathlon world champion and Olympic winner Michael Greis in an exhibition.

Impressive natural treasures for hiking, skiing and marvelling

Particularly impressive is the nature around Nesselwang; from here it is only a stone's throw into the Alps, and with the Alpspitz (1,575 metres) and the Edelsberg (1,630 metres) you have the lofty heights and a wonderful view right outside the door.

That invites you to hike and explore. Whoever does not want to walk right from the start can take the Alpspitz cable car for the first stretch — it begins in the village itself and leads to various hiking and skiing areas. The summer toboggan run delights the children above all, but many of the young at heart as well! For water lovers there are recreational opportunities on the shores of the Grüntensee.

The ABC-Bad in Nesselwang offers an extensive sauna landscape and other wellness facilities with which you can relax after a strenuous excursion.
